New Job

So as some of you are already aware, I am not longer working for DMC! This has been something that I have been looking forward too for at the very least a year. I have been sending out my resume and not really getting many responses. I am going to blame that on the bad economy (its blamed for everything else I figured I would just add one thing.) Well shortly after Christmas I was looking at jobs online and sent out my resume to a handful of companies… a few weeks later I seriously got 3 interviews in a week.. I was so happy and just knew something would work out for me… I had 2 phone interviews.. Which I really like you can be so much more relaxed… Then I was asked to come in for a face to face interview on Jan 20th… I took the day off to do some wedding planning.. Which I will get to in a new post… I went to my interview, I was nervous and felt like I stumbled over my words with my super dry cotton mouth, but still felt hopeful. I went into work the next day and I sit down, I get a phone call from one of my friends telling me my references that I had given the day before were being checked. I heard from all 3 within 30 minutes… Does this mean I got the job?.. I was super hopeful but didn’t hear anything all weekend.. Come Monday morning I was nervous and anxious to get the call. It came in around 9 am! I got the JOB! I was super excited! I was so ready for a new adventure. I held off until after Lunch to give my 2 weeks’ notice, something I wasn’t sure I wanted to do but something I knew I needed to do.

I sat down with my then boss and told her I was giving my 2 weeks’ notice, I didn’t feel too bad, I mean this was the company that totally forgot my birthday last year until I was sent flowers from Seth. If that doesn’t make you feel unimportant I don’t know what does. Anyways as soon as I told my boss I was leaving her immediately gave me a huge list of things I needed to write down on to do so that my replacement could walk into the job and know how to do everything.. I thought shouldn’t my boss know how to do what I do?? She is my superior right?? Oh NO she doesn’t have a clue how I did the most basic of my job duties. I thought about just putting off doing the manual but I was really trying to be nice, so I typed up something basic to use as a basic guideline leaving off my special techniques. Well the end of my first of 2 weeks comes to an end, we bring in lunch for my “going away” party? I felt somewhat special. They did interviews for my replacement on Friday, and come Monday they hire a lady who is old enough to be my mother, has no HR experience, and according to her resume has extensive administrative experience, but when I ask her if she knows how to do the things I got questioned on the most, she had no clue. On Wed. I was teaching her how to enter a new employee into the HR system, she was the only new employee so we were going to enter her into our system, and she completed the new hire packet. I glance down and notice that they have hired my replacement the one with NO HR experience making more money than I was, this to me felt like a huge slap in the face! I had talked to my boss several times about me not getting paid what I should and how I felt that I was being somewhat discriminated against because I refused to go drinking after work with the girls, because I was the only LDS girl who worked there, and because I didn’t dress slutty in the office like the other administrative assistant who made $3.50 an hour more than I was, yet had less education and job responsibilities. So needless to say I was hurt. I didn’t feel like I wanted to stay and help them anymore. I was already close to the end of the day anyways. So I asked to speak to my boss told her how I felt and walked out. .. I spent the next few days trying to get ready for my new job, wedding planning, and cleaning up my house.

On Monday I flew to Seattle to start training for me new job. I was met at the Airport by the girl who interviewed me, she showed me around the town a little and we went to the office and I met my new boss, we went to lunch, and I can already tell I am going to really enjoy this new adventure! After work I decided I would try to go to the mall and walk around since, well my hotel is not exciting at all… I knew how to get to the mall.. I didn’t realize that the road was not the same coming home… I totally got lost and it was dark and not fun, but eventually I found my way back to the hotel. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go out and explore again, but I decided I would Google maps and print them so I could find my way without having to play with the Google maps on my phone.. This works A LOT better! Tonight I drove into Seattle ( I am staying about a half hour out of the city.) I wanted to go to Pike Market Place since I have always heard so much about it! Sadly when I got there it was pretty much all closed up , so I went on another adventure.. I went to dinner at a real restaurant all by myself, I never thought I could be the girl to eat out like that but it wasn’t too bad, but I don’ think I will make a habit of it! Anyways I am sure I will experience more and more while I am here. I am just super excited! And it’s always nice to come to work and find out that you were specifically chosen out of 300 resumes, and 10 face to face candidates! Way to go me! Here are a few pictures from my journey today. ENJOY!

The last few months..

I know I am a slacker when it comes to blogging… I need to get better, I need to get better with taking pictures as well so I have something fun to share on my blog. A lot has happened since I last blogged so here is a rundown of the last few months…

So Early November you remember I had my engagement pictures taken, following that I went it for a “Nose Job” I had surgery the day before Thanksgiving up at the University Hospital. I can’t say it was a great experience but certainly not like my last! My surgery was scheduled for 1 pm and I was told to arrive at 11:30 to get paperwork and all the jazz done beforehand. I arrived a little before 11:30 took care of the paperwork and went to sit in the waiting area. Soon I was taken back into my room and give a lovely nightgown to wear around. Around 3pm I was told that surgery is pushed back and I should be taken in sometime before 5pm… Remind you that I haven’t had anything to eat/drink since midnight… I am a little dehydrated by this time, so I remind them of that and tell them they probably should put my IV in. It was a little tricky being my veins had went into hiding from not being nourished properly. About 4:30 I was wheeled back to have my deviated septum fixed. I was out of surgery in about 45 mins and I remember waking up and still feeling the breathing tube down my throat. I really don’t like that feeling. I pretty much went right home, ate some soup and went to bed.

Thanksgiving day we spent the majority of time over at the Thompson house, we made a pit stop by the Paxman family dinner as well. I felt pretty good considering my nose has just been broken and fixed the day before. 2 weeks later my brother Kasey went in to have his tonsils removed. He really didn’t like the experience at all, Thank goodness we know someone in the ice cream business and he was able to have some soft cold foods to get some kind of food into him. About 2 weeks following Kasey having surgery my Dad went in for a Knee Replacement; this is something he has wanted to get done for at few years now but Doctors just kept pushing it back because of his age. They thought went they went in that he would need to have a FULL knee replacement, however once they got in and truly assessed the knee the decided to only do a partial knee replacement. My dad spent basically 2 days in the hospital, and came home early on Christmas Eve, what a great present to have my dad home for Christmas and not having to spend Christmas day at the hospital. I am happy to say my dad is home, walking around and even begun driving again this past week.

Christmas we great! Seth and I were both very spoiled. Seth has bought us a couch on black Friday, so that we can entertain more people at our place and have somewhere to relax and snuggle together. We love it!

Our First Christmas Tree :)

So that was obviously out big Christmas present. I had been a snoop and figured out that Seth was going to sign us up for Netflix, which we were going to have to stream through our Wii and only be able to stream in SD, so I bought Seth a Blu-Ray player with Netflix capabilities, funny thing is Seth was going for the same thing a bought a Blu-Ray player for us as well.. So I made him take the one he got for me back before Christmas and figure something else out, cause I know I am a lot easier to shop for than he is. But hey at least we both know the other was thinking about it right? My parent gave me a new pots and pans so I don’t have to use the misfit pots and pans anymore , they also gave me a blender so I can make smoothies, or as Jesten would like to call it a Margarita Making Machine. I love having new kitchen gadgets, they are so much fun and I love thinking of new things to make in/with them. We also receive a few(4 blankets), but I love my blankets and they are so so so snuggly! Zoie got a big bone and a pink hoodie plus lots of treats throughout the holidays.

For New Years we didn’t have really any plans and ended up at my parents playing games and watching a movie.

Right after the Holidays comes Seth’s Birthday… It was actually on Monday! For his birthday I surprised him by only working a ½ day at work then sneaking home to surprise him. We went to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, Did a little shopping at the mall, where Seth got a remote control helicopter, he is such a kid at heart! After hanging out all day we went over to my mom’s for Cake, she has decided after watching many cake shows she wants to decorate cakes.. so this is the cake they made for Seth. This is the first time she has ever made a 3 tier cake, let alone used fondant to cover the cake. I think it turned out pretty good!

Now it’s on to planning the Wedding! As of right now we have chosen to go with April 8th , the only thing that might make that change is if the venue we select doesn’t have that date, then we may change slightly. We will see… The wedding is going to be in Salt Lake rather than Mexico like I was previously planning, because I am super scared of not knowing my vendors and everything not working out like I had planned. Plus it will allow more of our friend to make it to the reception and wedding. So… If you would like and invite you best be emailing me your address either through my blog, facebook, or my email.

That’s pretty much the news from my end. I am going to try and do better about keeping up with things, and posting more about the wedding as it gets planned, but you know life gets so busy!

~*Engaged*~

That's Right! I am Engaged to my Boyfriend of the last almost 9 months Seth! I am so excited. I have known that it was going to be happening sometime soon just really didn't know when or how. I had my suspicions of when and where but.. I was totally wrong!

Seth and I had been talking about the possibility of getting married since I would say the middle of April if not sooner.  Seth had done a lot of ring shopping without me as I really didn't want to be placed in the awkward seat of the Jewelers putting my emotions towards a ring in Seth's lap. Yes I have been engaged twice before Seth, yes I have been in that awkward seat before and it just wasn't my idea of fun this time around.

Seth would send me pictures of rings here and there and I never really found one I fell in love with.  So he asked if I would go shopping with him and he promised he would not get into the whole financial aspect of buying a ring with me there, so I agreed.

On Monday July 5th, "We went to Jared"... yes we went to Jared, i know a little cheesy but its just how it happened.  I has been looking online and had an idea of a look I wanted. My taste in rings have change with each engagement. I want something that I feel like is going to be unique yes timeless and classy. Not to huge but not to small. I feel like my ring is just that.  We found it at Jared, after looking many places online and in a few stores.

I had gotten a phone call while we were at Jared which gave me a good escape to let Seth talk about his end of the whole deal, which I was thankful for.  There were a few complications with getting the ring into his hands ready for a proposal, first they sold the original diamond we had picked out, then he chose another one and had them put it in the setting, took the ring and realized they didn't size it correctly, took it back in and they sized it too big (before it was too small), so he had to take it back in and have it sized correctly for the final time.  I knew he officially had the ring on July 22nd.

The weekend of July 23-25 my family, some friends and Seth all went up to Bear lake for the weekend, camping and riding our waverunners... This is my favorite lake and camping/waverunning is one of my favorite things to do, so I thought knowing he had the ring that he would propose, he always promised me that once he had the ring he wouldn't hold onto it for very long. Needless to say the camping trip had came and gone and we were back in Riverton unpacking everything... and I still had no ring.. I was a little bummed, I could of sworn he was going to propose up at the lake... After everything had been cleaned up and put away Seth decided he was going to go home, shower, and take a nap. At least that is what he told me....

He left, I showered, gave Zoie and Bath and was sitting around the house in my pajamas as I was tired from the long, hot weekend. My family was getting ready to have dinner (some leftover chicken salad sandwiches from camping.)  I was being lazy, I asked my little brother Presten to go get me a drink out of the fridge in the garage ( for those of you who haven't been to my parents house we have a fridge in the garage that is basically a drink fridge.)  Presten was awesome and went to get me a drink.  I was cutting the corn off the cob and my mom told me she would finish cutting it off if I would go get her a bottle of water from the garage, Presten said he would and went to get my mom a bottle of water.  He came back in and my dad asked me to go get him a drink... and said it was my turn not Presten's so i got up and went to get him a diet coke from the fridge out in the garage. I open the garage door and...

There was Seth with a dozen red roses, down on one knee, in his suit with my ring in one hand. I was shocked I wasn't expecting to see him in the garage, I thought he was at home sleeping... I was in pretty good shock that I don't remember exactly what he said but I know he asked me to marry him, and of course I said Yes!

We then ate dinner with my family, then decided we wanted to go to Village Inn for pie, as that was the place that we officially met each other.  We sat in the same both, and it was just fun to look back at our dating and some of the fun yet crazy times have shared in the last 9 months.

We have no official wedding date planned right now, however we are thinking sometime in March 2011.

Summer 2010

Well I guess summer is Officially here! We just completed one four camping/ lake trips this summer!  It was our only camping trip up to Jordanelle,  we like this lake for its closeness to home, and its fun coves to play in.  I didn't get any good pics of the lake or camping but I got an awesome "Chubby Bunny" picture of Seth.  We were playing Chubby bunny with the extra large campfire marshmallows.  I couldn't get even one in my mouth completely without gagging. Seth he got a whopping 4 in his mouth!

The following weekend we had our "Thompson Family Reunion" in Goshen, Utah.. yeah I know most of you have no idea where that is, but its a small small town near Santaquin, Utah which is where my dad grew up. My grandma was in charge of the big party this year... I don't remember going to these much in years past but I know they have them every year.  My grandma sorta had the whole Hawaiian theme going on these are a few photos of the "Great" Decorations.
I want you to notice that in the close up of the lighted palm tree there is a bird, and a plastic doll hanging in there... I was trying to be sneaky in taking the pictures so they aren't the greatest!  I also loved the gay rainbow flag we had going on.

On a few other Random notes I cut my hair... it was a mistake and I am not very fond of it... This is the new do... what do you think?

Since Seth gave me and Iphone I just love playing on it and downloaded a photo editing app, yes there is an app for that! lol.. I was playing around and came up with this version of the photo.. I really liked it, my mom said it looked like I was trying to get some clients... if you know what I mean... Do you think I am selling?

Every Tuesday we watch Guns, he is basically my adopted nephew! He is seriously  one of the happiest babies I have ever met!  I was making dinner for Seth, my dad and I, so Seth had to hold Baby guns and he fell asleep in his arms...
Precious Huh!

This is also Guns and his FAVORITE papa!

That's all for now...

Stay tuned for some exciting news Maybe Next week!

I Know I know...

Its been forever since I have updated the bloggity blog... I guess I just feel like since I don't have pictures to show of things I shouldn't write a post.  So here is what has been going on.

In early May I turned 27! yeah its stung a little but I am moving on from it. Shortly after my birthday my family, myself, and Seth went on a vacation down to Orlando.  We went to a lot of amusement parks, It was time for a thrill seeking vacation rather than a rich in history vacation.
We started the trip by going to Tampa and visiting Bush Gardens- I am going to give this park a C, They had 2 fairly thrilling rides, but I was expecting more. We spent maybe 2.5 hours in the park then decided to leave after Kasey had gotten motion sickness and well Seth, he ripped his shorts with a huge hole in them, this was not his vacation for clothes lol.
On Saturday the next day we went to Aquatica, which was a pretty fun water park owned by Sea world. They have a slide they advertise as being pretty cool, you go through clear slides that push you through a pool of black & white dolphins the problem was that it was like 3 seconds in the slide.  They has many other fun slides and the whole family has a blast at the water park.
On Mother's Day we went to the place the my mom, and most of my family love best! Sea World!  it was a lot of fun to see the dolphin show, ride the manta, and see all the seal life. The Believe show just isn't the same as it was when I was a child, i think mostly because the trainers are not allowed in the water with the whales anymore and its just not as cool without them doing what they love to do.  I understand that, that lady was killed, but it was not the whales fault he thought he was just playing with his friend.  They need to put the trainers back in the water.
The next day we were off to Universal Studios, I like this park, there is pretty much something for everyone, great shows, and some great rides. Presten lost his cell phone on the rockin rollar coaster. We all got pictures with "The Simpson's" and learned a little about moving making.  Presten, Kasey and my mom all got to be part of short demonstration on movie making as well.
The following day we all headed down to Clearwater beach to hang out and soak up some sun.  Kasey and Presten went Para sailing for the first time.  Everyone has previously done it so it wasn't as big of a deal for anyone else to go but it was fun to get to see them enjoy the ride.
Next came Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, This park was fun and has some pretty fun rides.  I enjoyed going on the Hulk, spiderman, and the dueling dragons (which I think they turned into a new harry potter ride now.)  The boys all went on a water ride and got soaked, so then me and my mom bought ponchos for the river raft ride... Yeah lets just say didn't really do the best of jobs our bottoms still got soaked but it was pretty hot and we managed to dry off fairly quickly.
Disneyworld/ Epcot was the next day, we were planning on 2 days for the Disney parks however we found out while down in Florida that they were having the last  Atlantis launch on the Friday, So we spent 1 day between the 2 parks,  A lot of the rides and Disneyworld were down which was a little saddening but I have been to Disneyland bunches so I know the rides. Seth however has never been to really any amusement park other than Lagoon. I wish he was able to experience Space Mountain but I guess there is always California right?
On our last day in Orlando we drove down to the coast which was suppose to be a 2 hour drive ended up being about 5 hours.  We saw the space shuttle launch then hurried back to the car to try to beat the traffic jam that was inevitable to get back to Orlando. A guy that I work with has a son that works for NASA  and I have a few of the pictures he took that day, his our much better than the ones we have.

The rest of May not much happened.

In June work was super busy with Open Enrollment stuff and planning for all of the stuff that goes along with that.  I was lucky to get to travel with my boss this year for one open enrollment meeting out in Winnemucca. I know its not a dream vacation but it was nice to get away from my office work and see what we really do. While I was out in Winnemucca, I was given the special privilege to go 1700 feet below the surface of the earth.   What a crazy experience, to think your that far underground and to see the work the our employees do.  I was underground for about 23 hours and got to see our underground shop, yes a whole mechanic's shop is built in underground! its amazing down there and the way everything is connected.  Its very loud with all the heavy equipment working to drill, mine and prepare for a blast!.  Luckily the safety guy who gave me the grand tour was awesome enough to remember his camera so here are a few pictures from me underground. I know they aren't attractive or even the best quality.

This is Me and one of our employees

This is where they are getting ready for a blast, they are drilling holes to put dynamite in behind me.
This is the cage that lowers you into the mine, this is at 1700 feet below the surface.

When I returned home from Winnemucca, Seth met me and we went downtown to get the new iphone 4,  Seth loves me and bought me a iphone and put me on his coldstone/family plan :) so I got a great deal.  I love my new phone and I am amazed at how many crazy/fun/interesting things i find I can do with it.

That weekend I spent much of my time down at the Utah Arts Festival keeping my dad company since he had to be there from open to close for the whole festival.  It was fun a lot of friends and family all came to support my dad and we sat by the truck and talked and had a good time.

For the beginning of July.. its been a crazy one.  On the 3rd we had a bbq with some friends and went to see the fireworks down in Riverton, for being a fairly small area they put on a great show.  On the 4th Seth and I went to a family bbq for his side of the family.  It was interesting to see where his Cousins live, as it was just around the corner from our old house in SoJo... Come to find out my little brother Presten use to play with Seth's cousin... Crazy how you find those random connections.  On the 5th... Seth got off a little early to go with me... but I will tell you what we were doing in another post... so stay tuned.
